Good news story – MultiSkills Training

Paul Wilson, Senior Corporate Account Manager of MultiSkills Training has provided this story relating to Advocate and Collaborate.

Please provide a brief background and some context:

MultiSkills Training have been in Geelong for 2.5 years offering training in civil construction and high-risk work licenses.

What steps did you take to make a change?

They joined GROW in early 2020 and were introduced to Norris Construction, as part of a GROW collaboration for local training in civil construction. This led to a conversation with Norris to understand their needs, their training matrix and how to support their staff to upskill.

What was different after the change?

These discussions with Norris culminated in developing a plan for 2020-21 year. A training program to meet internal training requirements is now well underway.

What was the outcome?

This training will offer opportunities for Norris staff to build on and learn new skills, which will benefit both the organisation as well as the individuals. As staff progress through their career pathways, new vacancies will open up for entry level roles for job seekers from GROW communities.
