GROW and the TAC empowering young people

π—šπ—₯𝗒π—ͺΒ is proud to collaborate with impactful initiatives in our region, like the 𝗧𝗔𝗖 Traineeship Program, which provides valuable opportunities for individuals facing barriers to employment in an inclusive and supportive environment.

This program is designed to empower and guide young people by offering access to a rewarding career pathway. Through hands-on learning, GROW’s priority cohorts can develop the skills and confidence needed to launch successful careers.

Recently, we had the opportunity to catch up with Liz Taylor (Program Manager) and trainee, Say, to hear their perspectives on the benefits of this pathway program.

GROW, an initiative of the Give Where You Live Foundation, is committed to ensuring that everyone who desires to work has the opportunity and support they need.

In close collaboration with the Transport Accident Commission (TAC), the team at GROW play a pivotal role in promoting the TAC Youth Traineeship Program to various G21 organisations including Northern Futures and Cultura. These organisations assist the TAC in identifying and supporting career-motivated individuals who may face barriers to employment.

The TAC Youth Traineeship Program is a transformative initiative designed to support and empower young people who may not have had the opportunity to access early career programs. The program focuses on individuals aligned with GROW priority groups who may have faced individual, systemic, and economic barriers to employment.

Trainees in the program are empowered to study for a nationally recognised TAFE qualification over a 12-month period while gaining valuable on-the-job learning opportunities within the TAC.

For over 15 years, the TAC Traineeship Program has successfully supported over 100 individuals, providing an immersive learning experience within a corporate environment. Many past participants have gone on to establish successful careers after completing of their traineeship.

The TAC is grateful to GROW for their continued support and collaboration in promoting the TAC Traineeship Program within the greater Geelong region.

We’re excited to continue our partnership with Transport Accident Commission (TAC), driving inclusive employment and contributing to a fairer, more equitable community.
